Chinese Recreation Center

New construction of a three-story recreation center in the heart of one of the most historically significant and densely populated neighborhoods in America, San Francisco’s Chinatown. The project created a new gymnasium, playground, and multi-purpose spaces for the community, securing the location’s decades-old reputation as Chinatown’s unofficial backyard. Construction involved navigating multiple complexities including residential and retail neighbors, pedestrian and vehicular traffic, and the intersection of the Hyde and Mason Cable Car lines at the site. The building achieved LEED Gold certification.
